💛 Running for Luca – 3,000 Metres a Day for 30 Days 💛
This August, I’m taking on a deeply personal challenge one that means everything to me.
The Red Set Go… Every day for 30 days, I’ll be running 3,000 metres no matter what. Rain or shine, sore legs or tired days I’ll get out there. Because I’m doing this in honour of someone who changed my life forever: our son, Luca.
We lost Luca to SIDS something no parent should ever have to endure. He was just a baby, but he left the biggest mark on our hearts. His time with us was far too short, but his impact will last a lifetime. There are no words to describe the heartbreak of losing a child, but what I can say is this: Luca’s name will never fade. His story will be told. His life will always be honoured.
That’s why I’m running every day in the lead-up to Red Nose Day.
This challenge is for Luca, but it’s also for the thousands of other babies who never got the chance to grow up. And it’s for the families like ours, walking through grief and learning how to keep living while carrying so much love that has nowhere to go.
Each run is a small way of showing the world: He mattered. He still matters. He always will.
Through this challenge, I’m hoping to raise awareness for SIDS and raise vital funds for Red Nose an organisation that has walked alongside countless families through the unimaginable. They fund life-saving research, provide grief support, educate parents and caregivers, and advocate for change. They are the reason many babies are here today. They are also the reason many parents don’t have to face loss alone.
Supporting Red Nose means supporting hope. It means saving lives. And it means giving families like mine the strength to keep going.
I’ll be honest this challenge won’t be easy. There’ll be days where my body will ache and my motivation will waver. But I’ll keep running. Because no struggle I face in these 30 days could ever come close to the pain of losing Luca.
I would give anything to be running alongside him. Instead, I’m running for him.
