Red Nose Day 2023 In Loving Memory of Theo

By Lucy Smith

Help me save little lives, support families and fund vital research.

I’m holding a fundraiser for Red Nose so that they can continue their important work supporting Australian families.

Red Nose provide specialised bereavement support free of charge to any person affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a baby during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood.

This is something I have recently come to learn more about. Growing up we always had Red Nose Day in school and it was always fun and silly wearing red noses and collecting money but I never really understood the true meaning behind Red Nose Day. I'd like to raise awareness on infant loss and to highlight how amazing Red Nose grief counsellors are. Some of you may know - last year on August 8th 2022 we lost our second son Theo to a medical condition affecting his heart. We were 19 weeks gestation. After losing Theo, Red Nose got in contact with me and offered me free counselling with a specialised infant grief counsellor. Free of charge. At the time I couldn't see a light at the end of my tunnel and I didn't want to talk to anyone but was encouraged by loved ones to give it a go. I met a lovely lady named Elise who I still see once a month for a counselling session. I am a better person and a better Mum for meeting Elise. I am thankful for her everyday.

My aim is to raise awareness for this incredible cause and to highlight these amazing people who work tirelessly to help others.

If you can support my fundraiser, you will be helping to bring care and comfort to families when they need it most.

Times are tough - if you cannot donate that is ok. I am thankful that you have read this far into our story  and hope that you have learnt something special about Red Nose that you didn't know.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
